Collective Identity: An angel
Linking ICT to Social Movements:
- The emergence of the self as a reflexive project. an ongoing process of the shaping and reshaping of identity, in response to heterogeneous social forces, cultural currents and personal contexts encountered by individuals.
A collective identity is not something static; rather it is "the process through which a collective become a collective".
* individuals share a sense of 'we" or solidarity when they define some shared characteristics as salient and important.
* individuals harbor a consciousness comprising shared interpretative frameworks that include political consciousness, relational networks and the goals, means, and environment of action of the movement.
* a culture of direct opposition to the dominant order exists.
