Defining standards for bloggers?
Robert Cox, founder and president of the Media Bloggers Association:
“Anytime I can get in front of people who work in journalism, I want them aware of what (the Media Bloggers Association) is working to do,” Cox said. “I’d like them to understand that while there are plenty of folks who are out there not acting by a set of standards, there are some people out there who are trying to make a difference.”

Quantum Poetics and Power
Olson wrote:
"our reality is no longer things,
but what happens between things. "
In his theory, power is a relation, not a possession. Power is constituted in tactics that insinuate everyday life and that create an overall strategy, but for which there is n overall guiding will, either individual or organizational. Power must not be understood as a battle between two sides or as merely repressive - power is multiple and productive.
power applies to immediate everyday life which categorizes the individual marks him by his own individuality, attaches him to his own identity, impose a law of truth on him which he must recognize and which others have to recognize in him. It is a form of power which makes individuals subjects. There are two meanings of the word subject: subject to someone else by control and dependence, and tied to his own identity by a conscience or self-knowledge. Both meanings suggest a form of power which subjugates and makes subject to.

An old term
For Westerners. it is a central consequence of concepts of gender difference that a person may be turned by another person into an object and robbed of her or his status as subject. The proper state for a Western person is to have ownership of the self, to have and hold a core identity as if it were a possession. That possession may be made from various raw materials over time, that is, it may be a cultural production, or one may be born with it. Gender identity is such a possession. Not to have property in the self is not to be a subject, and so not to have agency. ["Cyborg Manifesto," 135]

Collective Identity: An angel
Linking ICT to Social Movements:
- The emergence of the self as a reflexive project. an ongoing process of the shaping and reshaping of identity, in response to heterogeneous social forces, cultural currents and personal contexts encountered by individuals.
A collective identity is not something static; rather it is "the process through which a collective become a collective".
* individuals share a sense of 'we" or solidarity when they define some shared characteristics as salient and important.
* individuals harbor a consciousness comprising shared interpretative frameworks that include political consciousness, relational networks and the goals, means, and environment of action of the movement.
* a culture of direct opposition to the dominant order exists.

“Citizens and Media”
UNESCO Guide “Citizens and Media” just published in French:
The new publication, that is alos online available (French version), is an important contribution to UNESCO’s action to foster citizens’ media and dialogue between media, particularly broadcasters and civil society groups and to facilitate the creation of associations of citizens.
The Guide describes the context of French-speaking African and Maghreb countries and proposes some good practices correlated with their identities and specific conditions including several approaches, guidance and possible models based on experiences of other regions. “These are useful models for citizens and civil societies to improve their participation in the electronic media”, says Abdul Waheed Khan, UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information.
